I’ve been learning Spanish for as long as I can remember! I had wonderful Spanish teachers from 1st grade all the way through my senior year of high school. I attended the University of Portland, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Elementary Education. After college, I began working at The International School in Portland as a bilingual classroom assistant. I’ve also studied in Segovia and Barcelona, Spain.
I’ve held a variety of positions at Pioneer Montessori and have been certified as an AMI Elementary assistant. Our Spanish curriculum is based on Montessori pedagogy, which gives children freedom of choice as they explore a foreign language. We help foster our students’ natural curiosity about the world around them by offering a variety of materials to inform them about the Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures. Topics of study throughout the year include geography, history, modern-day life, food, and holidays. It’s an honor to share my knowledge of Spanish with your students!
When I’m not at work, I enjoy reading, writing, and cooking. I also love biking and walking with my dog, Gigi.
