Admissions
“I thought I knew about Montessori, but was even more impressed after visiting the school and meeting you.”
-Prospective Parent
Nikki Creasman, Director of Admissions & Marketing
Thank you for your interest in Pioneer Montessori School!
This is a truly special place and community and I am so glad that you have found us. The Wood River Valley is incredibly lucky to have an authentic Montessori school in Ketchum and I am excited to show it off. The rich history of the school, dating back to 1981, combined with the dedication, expertise and experience of our staff make Pioneer Montessori a school that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
I believe that you have to see the school in person in order to truly understand the magic that happens in these classrooms! Whether your child is a brand new infant, a busy toddler trying to figure out the world, or already in a school but you want to know what else is out there, please reach out to me with any questions and/or easily schedule a tour/conversation with me. I look forward to meeting with you and helping to determine if Pioneer Montessori School is the right fit for you and your family!
Warmly,
Nikki | nikki@pioneermontessorischool.org
How to Apply
1) Schedule a Tour/Admissions Meeting
To get started, please click here to sign up for a tour and/or schedule a conversation with Nikki Creasman, Director of Admissions.
Tours are held on weekday mornings during the school year, allowing prospective families to witness the uninterrupted morning work cycle—a hallmark of Montessori education. Your visit will begin with a brief meeting with Nikki, followed by a comprehensive tour of the school and an opportunity to observe a class in action. Before you leave, you will have another chance to ask Nikki any questions you may have.
We encourage adults-only visits for the initial tour to ensure a focused experience. If this is not possible, please let us know at nikki@pioneermontessorischool.org. If an in-person meeting isn't feasible, we can arrange a virtual meeting instead.
2) Submit an Application
If you decide to apply after your tour and meeting, you will receive a link to complete an application online. Paper applications are also available at the school’s Administrative Office. A $50 processing fee is required upon submission.
Pioneer Montessori School has a rolling admissions policy, accepting applications throughout the year. While most new students start in the fall, open spots are usually identified in March after current families have re-enrolled. If a spot is available, the school will contact you to proceed with the admission process. Otherwise, your application will remain on our waiting list.
3) Student Visit
For Pre-Primary (toddler) Program applicants, a classroom and home visit will be scheduled with the lead teacher shortly before the student’s first day.
For Primary or Elementary (ages 3-12) applicants, we will schedule a student visit:
Primary (ages 3-6): The visit will be approximately 30 minutes after school, allowing your child to see the classroom and interact with our Primary Lead Guides. The guide will look for developmental readiness indicators such as ease of separation, ability to follow simple directions, effective communication of needs and feelings, and self-control.
Elementary (ages 6-12): The process includes an initial after-school visit followed by one or two full-day classroom visits. During these visits, guides will assess the student’s suitability for a Montessori learning environment through observation.
4) Secure Your Child’s Enrollment
If your child is accepted, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure their enrollment.
